Özgün Yılmaz was born in Istanbul in 1993. After graduating from the Environmental Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University in 2017, he completed his master’s degree in Environmental Biotechnology at the same university in 2022.

While working on his master’s thesis, Özgün Yılmaz contributed to various projects and scientific publications at the Prof. Dr. Dincer Topacık National Membrane Technologies Application and Research Center (MEM-TEK) at Istanbul Technical University. From 2020 to 2024, he worked at the Private Secretary’s Office of Istanbul Technical University.

As of October 2024, he continues to work as a lecturer at MEM-TEK.
